Oakdale-Oakdale, which has its own square, is the most populated Dedham neighborhood. It’s a neighborhood of middle-class working families with a lot of history as being one of the older neighborhoods in the town.
The Manor – The Manor is located on the outskirts of Dedham, bordering Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood and Dedham’s Greenlodge. “It’s a lot of working class families, close knit families.
East Dedham borders Boston’s Hyde Park and West Roxbury’s neighborhoods. A lot of working class families, “They’re known for the old mill, one of the oldest first manmade mills and canals in the country. They had a revitalization, an urban revitalization that changed the area in 1970s”.
Greenlodge- Greenlodge is one of the newer neighborhoods in Dedham with most homes being built in the 1950s. “Greenlodge is green – a lot of trees and ledge, once again it’s another tight knit neighborhood… Greenlodge has a considerable amount of trees and homes are spread out.”
The Square in Dedham, community theatre, restaurants!
DEDHAM SQUARE-Great places for breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner.
If you want to live in a quintessential New England town, have places to walk and hike, kayak on the Charles river and have plenty of choices for take-out as well as dining out plus seeing a few movies every few weeks, Dedham may be the answer. Playing a significant role in Boston area history, Dedham has has a a good amount of very old homes that are modernized and beautiful. These homes often have plaques that state it was built in the 1800’s and boasts the oldest home still standing in the country from the 1600’s. It’s a museum now.
If that wasn’t enough, the major north-south highway Rte. 95/128 borders Dedham and a large outdoor shopping area, Legacy Place showcases the national chains like Apple and Amazon stores, Whole Foods and plenty of coffee shops and clothing stores. Easy commuting, a strong town community and a 30 minute or less access to points in downtown Boston. What’s not to like!? Ask me more.
